Erdi Kara

Hi, I’m Erdi. I’m the Head of AI and Data Science at HueDx, where I lead efforts in computer vision and statistical modeling to develop smartphone-based diagnostics for colorimetric assays. I received my PhD in Applied Mathematics from Texas Tech University in 2021 and then worked as an Assistant Professor of Mathematics at Spelman College, where I managed multiple AI/ML grants from the US Department of Energy, the Simons Foundation, and Microsoft.

Over the past eight years, I’ve worked across computer vision, scientific machine learning, large language models, statistical data analysis, and mathematical oncology. These days, I’m most focused on building ML systems that actually hold up when things get messy, because they usually do.

I have shared some of my work here and will keep adding to it as things evolve. I currently live in Dallas / TX area.
